Orchid Garden Suites Manila

We have a little secret we’d like to share with you…

A few years ago, we were cited as one of “The City’s Eighth Best Kept Secrets” by one of the country’s leading newspaper.

Indeed, we are like a secret little hotel nestled behind a busy main street by a lush tropical garden with towering mango trees.

And we have an interesting story to tell…

The room is enough for two but with kids it is a little jam-packed. Their rooms are clean. Their rooms comes with buffet breakfast which is good. Their lobby is very nice and elegant. They have very nice and accommodating staff.

“Great Value at This Hidden Gem”

This hotel never fails to please and it is my first choice among the many in Manila. If you prefer a smaller “boutique” style setting this is it. Orchid Garden is conveniently located relative to the airport. Tourist destinations, and SM mall with restaurants are within easy walking distance. You can see Chicken Mang Inasal from there and it is a cheap place to get some great chicken but that is not to say that their own restaurant is not worthwhile. Go for the breakfast deal and you won’t be disappointed – the themed restaurant is nineteen twenties- thirties with appropriate period music softly playing. They really get the flavor of the time and in ways it is quite like going back in time at Orchid Garden. Spacious tables await you outside in the garden as well if you prefer to eat there and hear the sounds of Manila just outside the gates. Pool is refreshing after a hot day in the city, rooms are quiet, clean and well appointed and some will give you incredible views of the city and sunsets over the water. Internet access is also provided if needed. The superbly courteous friendly and professional staff are very welcoming to couples and I would consider it a romantic setting if you are looking for a finer place to meet and get acquainted.

“Orchid Garden Splendid Service in Historic Setting”

comfortable, quiet and visually appealing gardens, architecture, public spaces and rooms.

The only disappointment was that the hot water ran out within three minutes of beginning to shower. Pool looked so appealing but the water was so cold that we could not go in, heated pool would be nice there. The theme at Orchid Garden is nineteen twenties and they really capture the look and feel of that period in nice ways. Treat yourself to the breakfast deal it is well worth it. Food selection and quality is good, there is decent coffee and an omelet station. You are even given soft nineteen twenties background music as you eat -like going back in time. I tried to ignore the television but they were playing a loop of early street scenes of Manila which fit the decor as well without any distracting audio / narrative so you could look at it if you wanted to or ignore it. You can pick up a complimentary newspaper here or in the lobby (The Star ) which will bring you up to date on whatever is happening in Manila plus has a really robust editorial section.Hotel staff is attentive, professional and courteous and I give them five stars in this category and I have stayed here many times, so consistently good in that department.Outside seating for the restaurant is nice too but you won’t get any service sitting there, just take the plates etc. out yourself and enjoy the tropical garden foliage and the sounds of the city going past the gates. Orchid Garden is a gem of a hotel.

“Surprisingly Comfortable”

service, room, tasteful lobby

The Orchid Garden Suites is easy to miss if youre riding along P.Ocampo mainly because of its exterior: plants sprawling in its facade. However., when we pulled up their driveway, we were surprised to see the building looked like it has been well-kept. as soon as we entered the lobby, I found a small area with tasteful interiors! Checking in was a breeze! What liked most was how the front desk officer explained everything: breakfast (not included in the package), welcome drinks, swimming pool, business center, wifi, etc. She was honest enough to tell me that wifi signal is weak inside the rooms. As soon as we got to our room, we loved it. It was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Airconditioning system worked well. Hot and cold showers working. Toilet and even the bidet nozzle was clean! TV wasnt state of the art (read: not flat) but i was glad it was working well with a clear cable signal! Slept comfortably well that night. I found no insects for the whole duration of our stay. Although the hotel had a cramped up lobby, it was tasteful enough. The place as a whole was cozy. It gave me the feeling that the place was very comfortable and somewhat homey. I’d go back if I needed a place to stay near that area. Definitely did not disappoint. And with the price? You definitely cant complain!

“Good Hotel”

Quiet and Clean

you might see that this is my second review of the orchid garden. i checked out after night one with the intention of finding a more luxurious hotel for my last night in manila. well…… i couldn’t justify paying triple the price of this hotel for the so called more luxurious hotels in Makati. this hotel is just fine. when we were showed to our room there were single beds. a quick call to the reception got us moved to a room with a double bed (and an upgraded room). good service throughout with very helpful reception staff. well, all staff really. give it a try, i don’t think this place can be beaten in manila for price.

“Excellent”

We stayed here for a night late december. It was our second time to stay at Orchid Garden. We had planned to stay elsewhere, but the rooms were all booked. So we got on agoda and found a room for 2700php or about 50 usd with breakfast for two. Although the breakfast there could use some more options and was kind of so so we still enjoyed the setting in the cafe. Upon checking in my wife asked if we could get upgraded as we were celebrating an anniversary. The front desk woman said of course, and we were upgraded to a junior suite. The room was pretty big, but the furnishings were a bit lacking, except for the very comfy 3 seater couch. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom window offered a nice sunset view facing manila bay. All in all we really enjoyed our stay there. It was peaceful and the location was great for hanging out along the bay and a quick trip back to the hotel. Parking can be difficult there as the spots are limited though so try to find a place for your car asap.

“Nice Stay at Orchid Garden Suites”

location, ambiance, room size

My daughter and I stayed at the Orchid Garden Suites for 2 nights to attend a performance of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast showing at the CCP. I wanted a convenient budget hotel near the CCP and Orchid Garden did not disappoint. It had a nice old feel to it as mentioned by many reviewers. I had to use the hotel pick up service which costs PHP1050 (too expensive in my opinion) since I had no choice (coupon taxis did not run those days we were in because of the Papal visit). Check in was a breeze which was good because we had a late evening arrival. We were told at check in that breakfast ended at 10AM. The next day, we headed down at around 945AM only to be told, we were late for breakfast. However, I insisted that they told me breakfast was until 10AM so they allowed me. The room is big although it is on the 80s style and really up for an upgrade but for this price, I cannot complain. Everything else was good. Overall, not a bad experience.

“Old world charm in a homey corner of Manila”

Pablo Ocampo Street (formerly Vito Cruz) near Roxas Boulevard/CCP complex was an enclave of 40-50’s era mansions and still exudes that old world charm of old Manila. Orchid Garden & its restaurant, Cafe Alicia exemplifies these stately mansions and the old world hospitality. It still exudes the warmth and homeliness of this era. Just across is Century Park Sheraton which offers alternative eating options. Also not far away is Central Bank’s Metropolitan museum. It is also walking distance to CCP Complex, Rizal Memorial coliseum and De La Salle University Manila campus. The Harrison Plaza mall is best avoided, in my opinion, although it offers a lot of fast food chain choices.
